Recruiting News and Notes

  • With the commitment of St. John Boscoe(CA)QB Keith Price as well as last year's quarterback commitments of Luther Leonard and Dominique Blackman, the Huskies look like it's going back to more mobile athletes at the quarterback position. This is a great move by Coach Willingham as athletic quarterbacks buy more time for the offensive line and keep the defense on their toes.

  • Look for local DT 'Alo'ofa Ta'a to not receive a Washington offer and commit to Rick Neuheisal of the UCLA Bruins by October.Remember that Neuheisal was a coach for Rainier Beach High after being fired from the Huskies in 2003.There could be a fight for a lot of Rainer Beach players now that Neuheisal has something to prove to Washington administrators.

Sunday August 24,2008: Husky news and notes

  • The Cascade Clash between the Oregon Ducks and Huskies may have turned a lot more competitive due to the news that Oregon starting QB Nate Costa will be out for next Saturday's game.Costa is a more mobile, athletic passer than Justin Roper, last year's Sun bowl hero. This could bode well for the Husky D led by new Defensive Coordinator Ed Donatell, who plans to implement a more simple, aggressive defense this year.

  • With Costa out of next Saturday's game in Autzen, look for junior DE Daniel Te'o-Nesheim to be after Justin Roper a lot more. They'll be fresher legs on the defensive line with Donatell rotating more players in the trenches.
There's a great story by Seattle Times reporter Bob Condotta about the travels of former Minor Leaguer turned Safety Tripper Johnson.Check it out here:seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/huskies/2008135014_uwfb24.html

  • Daily Pac-10 Prediction: Junior DT Cameron Elisara will have a dominating year and finish as a first team all Pac-10 selection along with fellow linemate Te'o-Nesheim.
